The Gardens
Have you ever been somewhere that stops you dead in your tracks by how gorgeous it is? That was me the very first time I visited The Birdsong Pleasure Gardens in Luray, Virginia. Being an avid plant lover and aspiring gardener myself, this place was beyond my wildest dreams. The owners, Lesley and Tom, have transformed their land with an impressive variety of plants. It's truly a sight to behold.
An Intimate Affair
A few months earlier, Kates mother had emailed me asking if I was available to photograph her daughter's micro wedding at the Birdsong Pleasure Garden. To say I was ecstatic is an understatement! When I arrived shortly before their ceremony began, I was blown away by the sheer elegance of it all. Kate and Treys intimate garden wedding was elegant, whimsical and so, so special. I was very impressed with how they had decorated in ways that worked with the environment and complimented the scenery.
A shared meal
After the couple exchanged vows in their religious ceremony, they retreated to another part of the yard set up for a garden luncheon. The tables, all decked out in flowers (put together by the brides mother!) were put together in just the right way so that Kate and Trey could converse with all their guests and share their first meal as husband and wife. The meal, catered by Garcia and Gavino of Front Royal, Virginia, was tastefully displayed and enjoyed by all.
Formals
After lunch was served, we went to various parts of the garden to take some formal photos with both sides of the family and their friends (it's SO easy to get photos with all your guests when you have a micro wedding!) and then we finished off with some formal photos of the bride and groom.
All in all, the atmosphere of Birdsong Pleasure Garden is perfect for those looking for a unique micro wedding location, especially if you love plants! I would not be upset if I were to go back and photograph again (and again, and again!)
